"When you do something, you should burn yourself completely, like a good bonfire, leaving no trace of yourself." - Shunryu Suzuki
"Beauty confronts us with the requirement that we place ourselves among...the redeemers, the leaders in the protection of life. Once you have seen the bush on fire, you are not going to get out of the assignment unless you close your eyes to the beauty.... [You] either have to close your eyes or go back to Egypt and set the people free." - Rev. Dr. Rebecca Parker, "Rising to the Challenge of Our Times"

Our Pekingese (RIP)loved the air vents too. But ours are in the floor, not the wall. She would spread her royal, fluffy self completely over the vent of choice and snore happily away, unconcerning that the rest of the room thereby grew warmer and warmer. Believe everything you hear about Pekingese amour-propre and self-centerness. And know that their great charm and adorableness overrides all else. At least Honey's did. Her one serious fault was that she would not interact in any way with our sweet Dilly, who grew depressed and lonely with no playmate. And then the Universe sent us OUR Corgi, and now joy reigns supreme in the heart of the Westie.
